Free fraud-awareness help

About us

Neighbors who got tired of watching scammers win

Senior Scam Stompers began after one family lost a lifetime of savings to a phone call. Today we are volunteers, retired investigators, bankers, and caregivers working to make sure that call fails the next time it’s made.

Our mission

Reduce the barriers to fraud awareness among senior citizens. We go where seniors already are — senior centers, faith communities, libraries, living rooms — and when travel isn’t possible, we meet them by video or phone.

Every program we run is free, bilingual, and free of sales pressure. We never ask for account details, and we never sell a product.

What guides us

Dignity first

Being targeted is not a failure of judgment. We teach without blame, and we listen before we advise.

Current, not canned

Our material is rewritten as the scams change, using reports from banks, police, and the people we serve.

Community powered

Volunteers, partner agencies, and families extend our reach far beyond what any office could.

How we work with partners

Banks and credit unions

Front-line tellers tell us what they're intercepting each week, and we turn it into next month's lesson.

Law enforcement

We share reports and help victims file complaints with the right agency, quickly.

Senior centers and faith groups

Hosts give us a room and an hour; we bring the class, the handouts, and the follow-up.

Families and caregivers

We coach relatives on how to raise the subject without embarrassing the person they love.
